Tuesday TIps & Tricks #5 - Expiration Dates

Make sure to educate yourself on the shelf life of the make up you are using.  Keeping in mind that everything you are using has a shelf life and ensure that you're tossing old make up when you should... This is a good reason to not keep lots of open containers of fast expiring products around.  You don't want to be throwing away money on expired make up ... no one's got time for that!!

I found this neat little chart at MakeUp.com -  It's a great blog, definitely check it out!!

Tuesday Tips & Tricks #4 - Eye Shadow & Liner

Make your eye shadow color pop by applying white liner or a white shadow stick as a base. The white will naturalize out the skin color of your eye lid allowing the true color of the shadow to pop.  To avoid creasing of the eyeliner or shadow stick, make sure your apply a eye primer before!

Ever apply liquid liner and have the look be a little harsher than originally desired... This doesn't mean yoU need to avoid liquid liner because it is the easiest way to obtain a sleek look or a nice cat eye.  Soften the look by adding a bit of metallic brown eye shadow. The sheen that is in the eye shadow well bring light to the liner and and the brown when lighten up the liner, causing the look to not be be as harsh

Tuesday Tips & Tricks #3 - Foundation

Foundation

When matching your foundation to you face, make sure that you are not only matching it to your face but also your neck.  If you skin tone happens to be different from your neck to your face, match your neck.  Otherwise you may achieve the perfect look on your face, but then as soon as they look anywhere else they're going to notice that your face skin tone doesn't match the rest of your skin tone.

ALWAYS REMEMBER TO BLEND!! I know this sounds kind of a no brainer, but every time I see someone and and you can tell where their foundation ends, I want to pull them aside and say this.  Blend your foundation down onto your neck so that your skin tone matches the skin tone of your neck... No one wants that horrible foundation line on your chin or your neck because they didn't blend... This just brings me back to middle school when we're all learning to apply make up..  Keep this in mind for your foundation, bronzer, blush and eye shadows ... Blending is always the key!!

If you're anything like me, there are days that you don't want to do a full coverage face look, but you do want your tone evened out. Instead of investing in a BB cream (which are usually a let down anyways) mix your facial moisturizer with a little bit of concealer or your foundation.  Add more of your foundation/concealer depending on how much coverage you want.  These are products that you should already have in your collection, so no wasted money investing in new products! This also allows you to control the amount of coverage you get.

Make your foundation last longer by blotting it with a tissue.  No matter how your apply your foundation, it's almost guaranteed that you've applied too much product.  Allow time for your liquid foundation to set and then take a tissue folded in half and blot your face.  You will actually be surprised at how much foundation is on your tissue.  This will help make sure your face doesn't look cakey, it will look more natural and last longer!

Tuesday Tips & Tricks #2 - Curling Eyelashes

Curling Eyelashes

Ever curl your eye lashes just to have them fall later?  Try this - Using your blow dryer heat up your eye lash curler.  Your hair doesn't curl with a cold curling iron, so why would your lashes stay curled with a cold one?  After you have heated up your curler, make sure to test it before you curl your lashes, you don't want to burn your eyes!!  You can buy some heated eye lash curlers, but this is just as effective and way cheaper!!

When using your eye lash curler, after you have secured your lashes in the curler, lift the curler up.  This helps the curl.  What I mean is, when your secured your lashes and pinched the curler together , your thumb or palm of your hand is by your check,  lift your hand up.  This creates double the curl and lasts much longer!  Here's a picture that I was able to find on Google:

After you have curled your lashes, try applying a waterproof mascara first.  This will help lock in your curl.  Let that coat of mascara completely dry and then finish with any of your favorite mascaras.

When applying your favorite mascara, make sure that you start at the base of the lash wiggle the product and move on up.  This will work with the curl of your lash and help provide lift and make your lashes look thicker!
