Daily Skincare Routine

  • From left to right
    • Olay 4-in-1 Daily Facial Cloths – Combination/Oily
    • Mary Kay Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover
    • Mary Kay Blemish Control Toner
    • Mary Kay Firming Eye Cream
    • Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque
    • Mary Kay TimeWise Age-Fighting Moisturizer in Normal/Dry
    • Mary Kay TimeWise Night Solution (night only)
    • Mary Kay TimeWise Day Solution with SPF 25 (mornings only)

I start my my skincare routine off with the Olay Facial Cloths.  These are wonderful for many reasons.  I use the combination/oily option because especially during these summer months I have oily trouble spots.  The cloths have nice exfoliating beads on the cloths that help exfoliate but aren't to harsh and you can use every day.

Using the cotton rounds I then use the Mary Kay Eye Make Up remover and Toner.  I have to be honest, the toner isn't anything special, but I have very sensitive skin and this is one toner that doesn't break me out.  However, the eye make up remover is hands down the best I have ever used.  It doesn't irritate my eyes and removes even waterproof make up with ease and without needing to pull on your eyes.  Keep in mind when you are doing anything to your eye area that the skin there is more sensitive  excessive pulling will cause wrinkles and non of us want that!!

Then in the morning I next apply a day solution.  The nice thing about Mary Kay's is it also includes a SPF 25.  Remember, even if you are only in the sun for a limited time, you need to have some sort of protection.  On days when I plan to be in the sun for long periods I also add a facial SPF after my moisturizer.  In the evening this step is replaced with my night solution.  If you look closely at the picture you can see pink/purple beads in the solution.  These are your antioxidants and minerals to nourish your skin.  The great thing about the beads is that they do not burst until the go through the pump.  No exposing them to the air increase your shelf life.  Keep this in mind with any creams you have sitting at your makeup station. Once exposed to the air, your shelf lief is weeks, if not days!

Finally, I use my moisturizer and eye cream.  It is important to pick your moisturizer carefully for your skin type.  Pay attention to what your skin is telling you and this may change depending on the time of year.  During the winter I need more moisture than I do during the summer months.  Also, I always use an eye cream at night, but during the day if I find my skin to be a little more oily, I may make the decision to skip my eye cream for the day.

My skincare secret weapon has to be a mint julep masque.  I am currently using the Queen Helen brand.  I use this about once a week to deep clean my pours. I try to use this on a day when I know I won't be using any make up.  This product goes deep down and gets all the grit and grim from the week out. Keep in mind when you start using this product, you may experience a few break outs.  Especially if you don't regularly wash your face (which you should be doing!!!).  If you continue to regularly use this product any potential break outs will decrease.

NOTD and Mini Review - Wet n' Wild Meglast in Bite the Bullet

Beauty Secrets Bottom Coat - from Sally's Beauty Supply
Beauty Secrets Top Coat - from Sally's Beauty

Wet n' Wild Meglast Salon Nail Color in Bite the Bullet

Mini Review:

I have to admit, I loved this color in the bottle, but when I got it home and on my nails I am totally in love with it!! It's the perfect purple! It isn't too bright so I feel it's very professional work environment appropriate.  It's a darker shade of lavendar with a hint of grey.  It's perfect. Additionally, the brush is the perfect curved shaped making it easy to get all the way to the base of your name.  Pair this color with a nice top and bottom coat and you have a nail color that will last with no chipping!! Definitely a recommendation!
